Scottish (and English speaking) culture prioritizes the written word over all other forms of information, however across the globe and within this country, other systems of knowledge exist and provide alternative perspectives on the world. In Gaelic speaking communities and culture, oral history, story and song are the ways in which collective memory is conveyed. What role does story, song and oral histories play in our communities? What impact does it have to prioritize these sources of information? What do we loose when we dont know the stories or songs of our ancestors?
